At Home with Elliott

First time parents opt to capture the beauty of parenthood by means of an in home newborn family photo session with their three week old daughter.

When Carly reached out to me about scheduling an in home newborn photo session for her growing family, I immediately knew we were going to get along wonderfully. She shared that their preferred medium was film photography + that Super 8 video also held a special place in their hearts.

Welcoming a new baby into the family can be an overwhelming experience, with numerous adjustments and responsibilities to manage. By bringing the photography session to their own doorstep, we were able to eliminate any additional stress associated with traveling to a studio or adhering to strict schedules. This flexibility ensured that both baby and parents were at ease throughout our time together. This allowed us to soak up Elliott’s calm moments, capture the movement of mother swaying with her up in her nursery, some fun in their backyard as the sun set, and everything in between. I just adore how capturing images in familiar surroundings allows for authentic storytelling. Home-based sessions like this one often showcase everyday moments such as feeding time, cuddles on the family couch, and the dynamic between the pet (that used to be your only child) and your newborn babe.

It felt like a dream being able to document images in the cozy nursery they curated just for their little girl, adorned with vintage and thoughtful decorations. Utilizing the natural light streaming through large windows in the living room resembled the feeling of a warm hug. Seeing the spaces that have now been filled with tiny cries and big love since bringing Elliott home not even four weeks ago. All these personalized spaces add depth and character to each photograph.

In case you were on the fence, opting for newborn photos at home provides numerous benefits - from creating a comfortable environment for both baby and parents to offering convenience amidst busy schedules. The ability to capture authentic moments and personalize the setting further enhances the sentimental value of these cherished images. As this trend continues to gain popularity, more families are embracing the idea of preserving their newborn's earliest memories within the walls of their own home.

This family/newborn session was documented with a mix of film mediums, primarily 35mm and polaroid, as well as digital and on super 8 video. If you’re in a season of change, get with Loreal about creating heirlooms you’ll treasure forever.
