Eagle Creek Maternity

Early Morning Maternity Session in Eagle Creek Lake

After this sweet session with mother-to-be, Kaliyah, I am sold on maternity photo sessions by way of water. It truly made for such a magical experience (rain and all). Eagle Creek is said to be made up of over 1,400 acres of water and is accompanied by 3,900 acres of forest and parklands. All that together offered up such a breathtaking backdrop for this maternity shoot. There was a sense of calmness + tranquility found within shooting here. Perhaps that can be tied to all the symbolic meaning water has been associated with throughout history and various cultures. Water is often viewed as a symbol of fertility and new beginnings – making our choice of Eagle Creek feel all the more relevant and appropriate.

Witnessing Kaliyah move through the water with grace and poise opened my eyes to the empowerment women feel as they venture boldly into motherhood. If you’re planning a maternity photo session I would strongly recommend considering incorporating water if you feel a tie to the symbolism + beauty it offers. Whether you choose a lake, river, or ocean, your photographs will create beautiful moments that you can cherish forever. A river can signify the path of life, a lake can be reminiscent of the vast journey of motherhood as it envelopes you, and waves of an ocean can be symbolic of the unconditional love you find washing over yourself again and again as you welcome your newborn. Any body of water will certainly lend itself well to this monumental chapter of your life.
