Playing in the Leaves of Garfield Park
A mother daughter photoshoot in the midst of fall time in Indiana.
I had the honor of documenting this precious duo for the first time three years ago; since then this momma has been faithful at regularly carving out some one on one time for her + her sweet girl to play in front of my lens. As a family photographer, this is the greatest compliment — to be invited back time and time again to capture the bond between a mother and her little one.
For this session we spent our time running through the fallen leaves of Indianapolis’ Garfield Park. This historic park seems to come alive during this time of year; everywhere you turn is full of color, sounds of leaves rustling in the trees, and sunshine peeking through the variety of foliage.
When booking their family photos, we landed on a one roll film session with added polaroids. Choosing film truly makes for a one of a kind experience both in front and behind the camera. I love that as the photographer, it pushes me to be further present and anticipate the moments unfolding. With limited exposures available each click feels that much more precious. For those being photographed, they get to feel less pressure to pose continually for what can feel like limitless snaps and instead get to place the trust in their photographer’s hands to capture the most genuine frames.
If you’re new here, you may not know just how much I love film photography. It ignites my passion every time while continually inspiring me. The end result is always something rendered in timelessness and truth. Be sure to look through the other many single roll sessions I’ve had the honor of photographing for all sorts of families!
This was a single roll film session booked with Loreal of Heartstring Heirlooms. Contact her today to have your own stress free session with those you love most!
